2008 World Stem Cell Summit: Special Events

Lab on the Lake
Stem cell enthusiasts will enjoy Lab on the Lake - a free public forum and festival as part of the 2008 World Stem Cell Summit. Governor Jim Doyle will open this kickoff event at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Pyle Center on Sunday, September 21, 2008.

Participants will experience hands-on methods that scientists use to grow and study stem cells. Additionally, Lab on the Lake will include a dynamic career and education fair, revolutionary stem cell documentaries, leading experts panels, and live music on the Memorial Union Terrace.

2008 World Stem Cell Summit Awards Dinner
For the fourth consecutive year, the Genetics Policy Institute will recognize organizations and individual leaders advancing the cause for cures. Past recipients include Michael J. Fox, Bob Klein, Don Reed, Dr. Ralph Dittman, the Coalition for Advancement of Medical Research, Student Society for Stem Cell Research, Hadassah, Parkinson's Action Network, Missouri Coalition for Lifesaving Cures, and Texans for Advancement of Medical Research. The Awards Dinner is included free with your registration.

Poster Session
Provides the stem cell community with a forum for advancing thought beyond the bench. Researchers and students of law, ethics, public policy, government, political science, and related arts and sciences present their work at the World Stem Cell Summit Poster Forum. Posters will focus on varying legal, public policy, and ethics regimes that have emerged around the world in pursuit of stem cell science and regenerative medicine. Abstracts due August 18, 2008.

Release of the 2008 World Stem Cell
